In the slums on the outskirts of Barrio Guadalupe, Reconquista, province of Santa Fe about 3000 people live in mud and brick huts, often without steady work, educational opportunities and health care.

For over 20 years Action Five has supported an initiative by middle-class citizens of Reconquista in their efforts to work in close cooperation with the inhabitants of Barrio Guadaloupe to improve their living conditions.

The joint initiative has led to the self-led construction of a small school, a walk-in clinic and a water tower. Women and girls have learnt in sewing classes to repair and produce clothing both for themselves and for selling purposes. Furthermore, the inhabitants of the Barrio continue to build small brick-homes for families. All projects in the Barrio Guadaloupe are attended by social workers.
